First time in Kiev, on the 28th of January 2012, at the initiative of Guilds of Landscape Architects of Ukraine, a seminar attended by the experts of the European level took place. Such specialists as a doctor of architecture, professor of urban planning and urban design of St. Petersburg State Architecture and Construction University, an honoured worker of Higher Education Institutions of Russian Federation, the leading landscape architect -  Nefedov Valery  Anatolievich took part at the seminar. Among the participants of the seminar, in the framework of the program "Cooperation and co-creation with other civil society organizations", were members of our Union.

A visit of Valery Anatolyevich to Kiev and his participation at the seminar held by him is a great success both for the members of our Union and for all people who were presented on it. Valery has not only a powerful intellect, but also - an innovative and constructing knowledge of landscape scenarios. Taken into account the fact, that he is a frequent guest of Germany, France, Scandinavia, China and many other countries, his lectures on new trends in landscape architecture and design are long-awaited events for practising landscape designers and architects, as well as for the students. These trending topics were presented at the seminar: People and urban environment; All for the good of a man in the city; Recommendations for the creation of real landscapes in Kiev on the eve of Euro 2012 - were very relevant to the seminar...

 ...This is one of the ideas that Valery Anatolyevich wanted to convey to the audience, "Environmental design can not be represented entirely cut off from the real consumers, who are adequate to a certain time."  All the participants agreed on fact that our city requires a new approach to the improvement of the living environment as a breath of fresh air.  Kiev is "the cradle of history," it all "breathes by the memory of the past" that is why it is so important in our city, which receives millions of guests from all around the world, the theme of the organization of the comfortable space that reflects our current social needs, is very essential. Priorities change with the development of society: today the design of the space is interpreted in means of ensuring a comfortable stay in a human environment. We need more comfort in our parks, squares, streets of our city. Practically, there is no orientation of the space according to the age and physical capabilities of a human. And we can only dream about the equipped bike lanes and parking cites (we moan and groan when we look at the overseas photo being demonstrated to us!)

In the words of thanks, the organizers of the seminar have summarized, that due to the information which Valery Anatolyevich put up in minds of the audience, we can only hope that maybe, not immediately, but after a while, we will have more and more advanced, free-minded people, who will be able to overcome the conservatism and inaction, observed in the sphere of living environment creation for many years, and our city will change, our people will learn how to live in a harmony with the environment, with the understanding of the fact that we are a whole!  All of the above, as well as possible, illustrates and serves as an evidence of correctness of goals and objectives which were defined by members of the "International Union of Landscape Creators".
